River Chavanga, Artic Russia, Salmon & Sea Trout Fishing on the Kola Peninsular.  Hosted / Guided Fly Fishing Expedition

June 2022:

I am running a hosted Trip Fishing the week of the 4 - 11th June, leaving the UK on Thursday 2nd back Sunday 12th.  Cost EX MURMANSK with part Heli transfer €2,850

Spaces are very limited, contact me for more details

Red Dots = Murmansk and Chavanga
Firstly I am not a tour operator ! I am looking for like minded salmon fishers who want a proper adventure.

I have been going to Russia for 10 years so sort of know the ropes, how to get around, what is and is not possible. I have been to several Rivers, Ponoi, Kitza, Varzuga, Varzina and others.  I am putting together a Trip to the Chavanga River in Arctic Russia in the first week of June Leaving the UK on a Thursday  returning 8 or 9 days later (a week the following Sunday)  I Can arrange other dates for you if you can not join this guided trip from the UK.

This is the "operators web site" it covers many Rivers we are specifically going to the Chavanga.

You will see on their site the cost is €2,200 - €3,000 Euro's Depending on whether a Helicopter is used for Transfer. Please confirm this cost with me though. This price is Ex Murmansk.  You need to add to this the international and domestic flights to get to Murmansk and a Russian Visa.  As a rough guide this trip will cost IN TOTAL around £3,500 - £4,000 to include a full weeks fly fishing for Atlantic Salmon & Seatrout, visas, accomodation, shared english speaking guides, food, drinks, all transport in Russia, some tips and INCLUDING international flights.

I am not adding any cost to this, I am just quoting what it is going to cost you, I can help you book (or do it for you) etc and having some one who has done it before is a huge advantage !

Going out we will go via Moscow or St Petersburg with Aeroflot, comming back there is the option of using the Finnair charter from Murmansk to Helsinki (Subject to availability) and then other airlines to get back home  GOING OUT The Charter option through Helsinki DOES NOT WORK as we have to be in Murmansk on a Friday Morning. You may choose to overnight in Murmansk / Moscow / St Petersburg either / or both on the way out and the way way back, this cost is not covered in the above estimate.

Last year I travelled overnight to Murmansk via Moscow and used the Charter from, Murmansk to get back to the UK in one day so I did not overnight anywhere, I will do the same again this year.

Now given this is CONSIDERABLY LESS than HALF the cost of any other trip you will find to Russia there HAS to be a catch so read on.

The journey there is arduous, we fly London - Moscow - Murmansk with Aeroflot.  We then drive on Tarmac for 5 hours, on sand for 4, cross a river in a rowing boat, then drive over VERY rough ground at 10 mph in a 1950's Russian Military truck, we stay in a basic Russian Home in "bunk house" type accomodation.  The choice of Food is limited as are drinks, however it is a MASSIVE adventure and you fish as close to TRUE wilderness as you can get.  Going home you do the whole journey in reverse.
Lunch ! On the Banks of the River Chavanga

I must emphasise that the off road part of the journey is VERY ROUGH and VERY UNCOMFORTABLE and VERY LONG and often VERY COLD

It is possible to get a Helicopter, however it adds €1,000's and the exact cost will depend on how many use it.  I have to say the drive was part of the adventure and I would not use the Helico.

You will catch salmon, you will see Eagles, brown bears, Artic Foxes, Hares, wild horses and even wilder Russians.  You will WALK a long way and it may Snow or be 30 dgrees (on the same day)

As with all fishing the conditions will play a huge part in what happens in the week and it is not "impossible" that we go there and fishing and or catching is not possible.  However 2017 with the worst conditions in a century (Biblical Floods and the latest melt in living history) I still caught 7 Salmon and 50 + Sea Trout, in a Normal year if you know what you are doing you "should catch" 10-20 Salmon upto 15 lbs with most 5-8 lbs  2018 I had 33 Salmon, Best about 12 lbs  2019 25 Salmon Best 15 lbs.

I have been going to Russia for 10 years, I did this trip in 2017 for the first time went back in 2018, 2019, was booked for 2020 buy Covid defeated us all and will go again in 2021, maybe twice ! because............ it was a true adventure !

Let me know if you want to talk about it further.....
