RIVER KENNET, Trout Fishing:

The Avington estate is set in the idyllic Kennet Valley, Berkshire.  The fishing here is a mixture of the main River, the Half Water and numerous carriers.

It is a members only club with no day tickets. Laurence fishes here as a member and he can take guests with him.

Fishing is Upstream Dry Fly only till the end of June and there after nymph is allowed, again upstream only.  NEVER down and across !!

The May Fly are truly prolific with the water litterally boiling with rising fish when the conditions are right.

This is not easy fishing, stocking is not heavy and the fish are very wary.

The beat is near Hungerford in Berkshire and is around a 2 hour drive from Hertfordshire.

If you are intertested in fishing here please contact Laurence Lock. To discuss the cost.

Ideally you will need a 7 - 8' Rod weight 5 at the most and a good selection of dry flies.  A long handled net that you can "fix" to your self as you will walk MANY MILES in a day and carrying a net is not viable !  There is no wading so a good pair of Gun Boots is all you need.
